Welcome to the Spruce Grove & District Agricultural Society website! The Agricultural Society is a non-profit organization that was formed in 1973 to support the agriculture, horticulture, homemaking and quality of life in community. When the grain elevator was marked for demolition, the Ag Society stepped in to preserve it as a working museum. Since 1995, several thousand visitors have toured the Elevator.
The Ag Society, a group of dedicated volunteer members, has been instrumental in contributing to the community, beginning with the construction of the Agrena, and hosting the annual AgraFair. This event has grown to become Western Canada’s largest Agricultural Fair.
In 2011, over 2000 visitors from around the world and Canada visited the Grain Elevator Museum, Archives, and Farmers' Market. The Society also hosts educational programs for schools, known as "Where the Food Comes From". The Agricultural Society sponsors the Farmers' Market and the Archives and also sponsors two students to attend the annual ACCA Youth Program.
Several annual fundraising events such as The Flap Jacks at the Tracks, Corn Roast & Kids Carnival, and Harvest Festival are also hosted by the Society and are popular among community members and visitors. Events hosted at the site are for the purpose of raising funds to support ongoing maintenance, programming and promotions for the Agricultural Society.
Presently, we are looking for financial support to restore the historical water tower and to build an emporium to house the Farmer's Market, Archives, Museum and Cafe. With your help, we can make this a viable, world-class tourist and educational destination.
