Grade 2          Little Red Hen Goes to the Grain Elevator
Grade 3          Where does my food come from?
Grade 4          Getting to the Roots: The Stories, Histories and Peoples of Alberta

We are pleased to offer school programming for grades 2 – 4.

Come and discover the life of the farmer of the 1950's. Learn how grain was brought to the elevator and shipped by train to the mills.  Learn how levers, pulleys and simple gravity eased the workload of the manager who ran the grain elevator single-handedly. Look into the giantic bins that stored locally grown grains. Learn about the diversity of products produced by grains and other agricultural products. Be inspired by the ingenuity and resourcefulness of our pioneer farmers.

Our programs are designed to be delivered on-site and to stimulate curiosity, and connect multiple concepts across curriculum with attention to specific goals and objectives as outlined by Alberta Learning. Our inter-active program can be adapted to fit specific learner needs and can be adapted to fit into specific time constraints.  We are available for programs May - September and can adapt programming to accommodate groups into October as well.

To better serve individual needs, larger groups will be divided into two or more groups. We recommend sub-groups not be bigger than 10 (including supervisors) for each station. Generally, each station rotation requires 30 - 40 minutes and depending on the size of the group, may include up to four stations: Archives, Grain Elevator, Museum, Education Interactive Station.

Time 10 AM - 2:00 PM (may be adjusted as required)
Cost $5.00 / student / supervisor
What to Bring Lunch, appropriate outdoor footwear and clothing.  May also require pencils, crayons, scissors, glue
What to wear Due to the industrial natur of the site, closed toe-shoes are strongly recommended.
Supervision requirements We strongly recommend 1 supervisor for every 5 children, more if some students require special care.
